Dancing queen

Tonight was the big wedding in Texas. And by big, I do mean big. There were probably 400 people there, and Uncle David spared no expense.

Here is Lexi, about one hour before she discovered her inner...

DANCING QUEEN!

The girl did. Not. Stop.

Go Lexi! It's your birthday!

Okay, maybe not, but look at those feet go -- would you?

No doubt about it. We're raising a party girl.

A model passenger

I was a little nervous about how Lexi was going to do on the flight to San Antonio. And even more nervous after she got very little sleep last night. (We got to OKC late and she woke up early.)

No need to worry, though. She was a model passenger, even insisting that we use our "SEAT BELTS! SO WE CAN BE SAFE!" Thanks for that one, Dora.

This isn't her first plane trip, but it is the first one where she's aware she's on a plane.

She was a tad confused by the clouds out the window, and she was very concerned about how we were going to get out of the plane.

But we arrived safely, and then met up with Aunt Katy, Uncle Ron and Uncle Marc for lunch by the Riverwalk.

As you might infer from this photo, naptime was much appreciated and is still gong on as I type this. More fun and Mexican food planned for tonight.

Halloween

It was a long, sugar-filled, nonstop day. It's 11:20 p.m. right now, I still haven't packed for our trip to Texas that starts tomorrow night, and here I am blogging.

There are so many more pics I wish I could publish, but I'm too tired. Here are some highlights.

The fun started with the annual newsroom trick-or-treat. Lexi was a cowgirl who thought she was a horse who said "neigh" to her cowgirl hat and cowgirl boots.

The hat stayed on for approximately as long as it takes for me to eat a Reese's.

When we looked at this pic of Annie later, Lexi said, "That's Norton's friend!" Indeed.

Coolest big kids ever -- Brett and Casey.

Coolest little kid ever (next to Harrison) -- Kyle

At home, we skipped going door to door and decided to hand out candy instead.

Lexi was wayyyyy into it. "Where are the kids?"

After bedtime, I was off to Oeno, where I got to be one of the judges of the costume contest. Here are Lori and Brian, who might have won if not for the awful misfortune of knowing three of the judges.

Life is Golden. And black. And hot pink, apparently.

And then the whole high school barfed --- AT THE SAME TIME!

Carrie! She'll come back to book club! PUT THE SWORD DOWN!

Oh, yes. They wore matching earrings.

The costume contest judges.

The costume contest winners -- The Woods family.

The Furminator

At the advice of several dog owning friends, I purchased The Furminator tonight. It's a really inexplicably expensive dog brush that supposedly removes the undercoat as well as the .... outercoat?

After about 15 minutes of brushing, I did get a lot of hair out. But Norton might just have an unending supply.

It could have been my imagination, but I think the pug looked a few pounds lighter when we were done.

Trunk-or-Treat

Tonight, we had a date with Harrison and Maddy. Amy had a school dance to attend, so she loaned us some friends for the evening .

We started with dinner at Red Robin, where there were balloons and burgers to go around.

Did somebody order a Harrison sandwich?

Then, per Amy's advice, we put on our costumes and headed over to Harrison and Maddy's church for Trunk-or-Treat. For the uninitiated, it's like trick-or-treating, only in a parking lot, and the candy comes out of decorated car trunks.

Taking inventory.

Afterward, we came back here to play. At the moment, it's 9:01, an hour and one minute past Lexi's bedtime. She and Harrison are having a flyswatter fight. Every toy we own is on the ground. And Maddy and I are cuddled up watching "The Jungle Book."

Almost as good as 'Christ breast pieces'

I'm not sure what's more disturbing -- the fact that Lexi is already doing school fundraisers at age 2 and a half or that the candles she's selling come in this scent.

I think they meant 'chicken'

Spotted this description of pollo asado on the menu of a Mexican place I'm reviewing.

Can't say I've ever had pollo asado made that particular way.
