Gindi grub

We took Lexi along with us on Sunday to review Gindi Thai & Japanese diner, a new place at 7010 W. 21st St., where Backyard Burger used to be. (It was delicious -- look for details in Friday's paper.)

I'm always a little hesitant to take Lexi to an Asian place because well, ya know, there aren't usually cheeseburgers on the menu. But she'd recently discovered a book about a little kitten who loved sushi and was pretty excited about going to a "sushi place."

She ended up burying her sushi deep in a bed of chicken fried rice (do you see it there, sorta in the middle??) But she could not scarf down the rice and Pad Thai fast enough. She loved it so much, in fact, that double-fisted eating became necessary.

Somewhere in my archive I have a picture of her using chopsticks to eat noodles at Pho Hot.

Hiya! I just Googled "Gindi Wichita" and your blog came up. I'm anxious to try this place. Any recommendations?? My husband is a pad thai kind of guy (hee hee--rhymes!), and I love anything. Did your daughter eat her sushi? I might have to get some to try!!

Looks yummy. We'll have to check it out. There's a sushi place nearby that Jennifer and I go to every once in a while.

I've been wondering about that place. Glad to hear it got your approval. Brian & I have been wishing for a good sushi place near our home for those rainy-night-wanna-just-get-takeout-and-stay-home-and-watch-a-movie emergencies.

My family and I went right after we read your article. Gindi will be the only oriental restaurant that we want to go now. Not to mention how great their foods were, but their services were excellent. We love Gindi. Eversince then, we went to Gindi almost every week.

I was just here today thought I would give this place another chance after they charged my 12 month old for the children's buffet last time we went. I decided to splurge and get one of the sushi combos with 3 rolls while others at the table ordered from the menu. From the time we sat down to the time everyone got their food an hour has passed and there was only 3 of us. And on top of that my sushi rolls were not made with sushi rice but rather with just plain white rice so it didn't taste good at all. I only eat a few pieces to make sure that I wasn't jumping the gun and asked the others at the table to make sure also. So 5 pieces of sushi was eaten on plate of 22 pieces. I told the wait staff the problem. But I still got charged full price for sushi combo. The owner wouldn't budge on the price so I told they have lost a customer forever. Wished I knew that I had to pay full price so I can get the other pieces and let all the other customers there taste the sushi I ordered.
